When choosing what lighting is best suited for your kitchen there are multiple factors to consider and in this post we will go over the mains things to look at.
- Size of Kitchen
- Style of Cabinets & Appliances
Lets take one of these points at a time and go over what we need to look out for:
– Size of Kitchen
The size of your kitchen will play a massive factor when selecting what lighting would be best for your kitchen. Larger kitchens will not only require lights that give off a larger amount of light but also will the amount of lights that will be needed with the completely opposite being true for small kitchens.
Here at Clanrye Lighting we are able to do lighting plans for your kitchen for the best configuration of amount and style possible. Small kitchens will require a more cosy and warmer style whereas larger kitchens can use much larger fittings and could be the focal point of your kitchens styling!
- Style of Cabinets & Appliances
Style is a subjective matter meaning that just because you have a dark interior style that all your lighting styles have to be dark. Contrast can be very good to bring out the parts that you want to stand out the most. Dark style interiors could benefit from brighter styles or ever metalic colours such as copper and the rooms will look more alive, same in reverse could be said about lighter styling. It is always going to be about what you think suits and shows your home how you want it. Get in touch with us and we will be able to show you the best possible combinations in our opinion!
When it comes to interior design, lighting is one of the most important aspects when designing your home. At Clanrye Lighting we have every style imaginable to be able to help you choose just the exact lighting to suit your design needs!
Whether you like modern, vintage, retro, shabby, minimalistic or anything in between choosing the right lighting in your home is one of the most important steps to consider. Interior Design is an art in itself and it is always going to be down to personal preference what you match with what.
There are no set rules to be followed and as mentioned it will be personal preference, whether it is contrasting styles to bring each other out like Modern & Gothic or just sticking to one for a more simplistic design.
Our Showroom is organised by colour / style so that you can find what you need easy. Want crystal, we have you covered. Prefer a darker style, that is also available. Why not call in and speak to our sales team who could do a lighting plan for you. Being able to see before you purchase is important and we have what you need!
When it comes to lighting up your bathroom there many ways to do it, but what is the best for bathrooms?
What makes a light a bathroom light?
IP Rating stands for Ingress Protection which is one of the key points you must look out for when choosing your bathroom light. Below diagram shows the different lighting zones and the recommended IP Rating for each of the zones.
Zone 0 – Would be items inside the bath of shower itself. Any fitting that is used in this zone must be low voltage and be rated at least IP67 which is total immersion proof.
Zone 1 – This area is usually situated above the bath or shower to a height of 2.25m from the floor. This zone minimum required IP Rating is IP45 but the general consensus is that IP65 is most suitable for this zone.
Zone 2 – This is an area stretching 0.6m outside the perimeter of the bath and to a height of 2.25m from the floor. In this zone an IP rating of at least IP44 is required. In addition it is good practice to consider the area around a wash basin, within a 60cm radius of any tap to be considered as zone 2.
Outside Zones – are anywhere outside zones 0,1 and 2 (subject to specific limits) and where no water jet is likely to be used. There are no special IP requirements in this zone, however we suggest that you consider a light with an IP rating of at least IP20+.
Bathroom Wall Lights – Wall lights in the bathroom are the sure way to ensure you add a bit of flare and style to your bathroom. These are more common with larger bathrooms and are commonly placed above the sink in the bathroom.
Bathroom Mirror Lights – Having a light above the mirror, around the mirror or even just a mirror that lights up is great to ensure that your style and functional needs for lighting within the bathroom are met.
